Thermo-D — modified use class 3

All our boards are Thermo-D grade (durability). The timber moves from class 5 to a modified class 2, with stability comparable to a tropical hardwood — no CITES, no biocide. Suited to the Belgian and Luxembourg markets, where biocide regulations are stricter than in France.

Installation and maintenance

Lay with a 5 to 8 mm gap between boards. Ventilated joists at 40-50 cm centres, with a minimum 4 cm air gap. A2 stainless steel fixings (A4 in coastal areas) — countersunk Torx screws or hidden clips.

Frequently asked questions

Thermo-treated Scandinavian pine remains our best-selling species — the best balance of price and durability. Brushed thermo spruce (2.6 × 18.5 cm) offers a wider board for contemporary decking. Thermo abachi is lighter (an African timber), ideal for accessories and trim strips.
Grooved improves grip (poolside, areas exposed to rain, R11 to DIN 51130). Smooth gives a purely contemporary look. Brushed gives a matt, weathered appearance — the grey patina develops more quickly.
No — use class 4 (direct ground contact or immersion) remains restricted to specific species or treatments. Thermo-D corresponds to a modified use class 3. Always raise the boards on pedestals or shims.
