Siberia or Canada, which origin?
Siberian larch (Larix sibirica) is the densest larch — 590 to 750 kg/m³ — a guarantee of mechanical strength and natural durability in use class 3. Its tight grain gives boards that stay very stable once laid.
Canadian larch (Larix occidentalis) offers a slightly more orange tone, a comparable density and a PEFC traceability that is often easier to document. Ideal for markets with strict environmental requirements.

- Smooth S4S 2.7 × 14.2 cm, grades AB and C — clean finish, contemporary look.
- Grooved 4.5 × 14.2 cm — grooves for improved slip resistance at the poolside, R11 (DIN 51130).
- Siberian larch planks grade AB for substructure and solid decking.
Silver-grey patina
Larch greys naturally under UV within 12 to 24 months. This patina is sought after in contemporary architecture. To keep the original orange tone, apply a decking oil every 2 to 3 years. To return to the initial tone after greying, a wood brightener is enough.

Between 20 and 25 years with minimal maintenance and a ventilated installation. Allow an air gap of at least 4 to 5 cm (pedestals or shims) and keep the joist centres at 40 to 50 cm.
Larch offers natural durability (no treatment), a warm tone and a longer life (20-25 years against 15-20). Thermally modified pine is cheaper, more dimensionally stable and completely free of biocides.
Yes — most of the Siberian and Canadian larch we supply comes from PEFC-certified forests. Chain-of-custody certificate available on request.
No, it is not essential. Larch is naturally durable. Decking oil only serves to delay the silver-grey patina (by 12 to 24 months). Reapply every 2 to 3 years to keep the warm orange tone.
