Older buildings (pre-1948): NHL or trass lime is essential — it lets the walls breathe. New build: cement mortar is fine. Mixed construction: NHL3.5 lime is recommended to preserve elasticity.
Light grey pointing = a universal neutral (recommended with red bricks). Anthracite pointing = an industrial look on pale bricks. Sand pointing = an aged effect on reclaimed bricks. We also offer bespoke colours (on quotation).
For 10 mm joints on 25×6.5 cm bricks: around 12-15 kg/m². For wide 20-30 mm joints on old bricks: 25-30 kg/m². A 25 kg bag therefore covers 1 to 2 m² depending on joint width.
Recommended on exterior façades and shower floors. Our VESTEROL SSW 18OS and IMBERAL BES 10B silane-siloxane emulsions protect against water ingress without altering the appearance.
Always observe the drying times between coats (typically 24 hours at 20°C). Never mix cement and lime before use. Ask for our compatibility data sheet free of charge.
