Why thermally modified Scandinavian pine?
Scandinavian Scots pine has a tighter grain than maritime pine or Landes pine, with a higher density and improved dimensional stability. Its structure responds particularly well to retification, making it ideal for outdoor applications.

Thermally modified Scandinavian pine offers a higher density (tight grain), better dimensional stability and no biocides. Pressure-treated maritime pine is cheaper but contains chemical salts and is less stable.
Yes, like any timber used outdoors. The natural silver-grey patina develops over 6 to 18 months. It can be reversed with a wood brightener and slowed down with a wood oil.
