The profile at a glance

The UTS profile belongs to the Dartank thermally modified pine cladding family. Every one of our references is made from Scandinavian pine thermally modified at 200 °C, with no chemicals whatsoever. The wood fibre is modified right the way through — high dimensional stability, greater resistance to fungi and insects.

Ventilated installation — the essential rules

Fitted on vertical or horizontal battens, with a breather membrane mandatory behind and a ventilated air gap of at least 20 mm. Fixings in A2 stainless steel (A4 by the sea) — Torx screws with a reduced countersunk head, or concealed clips depending on the profile.

Compliant with the requirements of DTU 41.2 (the French standard for exterior timber cladding).

Natural silver-grey patina

Left untreated, thermally modified pine turns a natural silver-grey within 8 to 18 months — a look much sought after in contemporary architecture. With a saturating oil applied every 2 to 4 years, the original brown tone is preserved.

UTS is a cladding profile in thermally modified pine — a specific machining of the board (grooves, chamfer, spacing) that defines its architectural look and the way it is fixed. It belongs to the Dartank thermo-pine cladding family, in modified use class 3.
An air gap of at least 20 to 25 mm between the breather membrane and the cladding. It is essential for moisture to escape — without it the timber will rot, even when thermally modified.
Not necessarily. Left untreated, thermo-pine turns a natural silver grey within 8 to 18 months — a look much sought after in contemporary architecture. With a saturating wood oil (every 2-4 years), the brown tone is preserved.
A2 stainless steel screws (standard façades) or A4 (coastal locations, salt-laden air). Small countersunk head with a Torx drive; professional brands: SPAX Façade, Essve, RothoBlaas, PGB.
