C24 timber is classic sawn timber that has been strength-graded. KVH is solid timber too, but it is kiln-dried (to around 15% moisture content) and often finger-jointed along its length, which makes it far more stable, far straighter and much less prone to splitting than traditional sawn timber.
Treated timber should be used for any structure exposed to moisture or to insect attack. For a conventional roof structure, class 2 treatment is sufficient. For components in occasional contact with water, choose class 3 pressure-treated timber.
