How to fit PVC wall panelling in 5 steps
- Prepare the substrate — A sound, dry and flat wall. For fitting in a bathroom, check that no residual damp remains.
- Cut to size — Measure the height and allow 1 cm of clearance at the bottom. Cut with a fine-toothed saw or a utility knife — PVC cuts easily.
- Apply the adhesive — PATTEX PVC wall adhesive in vertical beads spaced 25 cm apart on the back of the panel.
- Fit and clip — Press the first panel flat against the wall. For the following ones, clip the tongue and groove into the previous panel.
- Finishing — Corner profiles and PVC skirting boards to dress the joints. Silicone sealant at wet junctions (shower, washbasin unit).

PVC panelling is the only one recommended in a bathroom: watertight, mould-resistant and limescale-resistant, it does not swell in damp conditions. MDF remains reserved for dry rooms (living room, bedroom) unless it is specifically moisture-resistant.
A PVC adhesive designed for walls, such as PATTEX or equivalent. Avoid standard neoprene adhesives, which can attack PVC. Run vertical beads 25 cm apart for optimal adhesion.
Yes — it is in fact an excellent way to renovate a bathroom without breaking out the tiles. Clean the tiles with alcohol, dry them and apply an adhesive for difficult substrates. It holds well provided the drying time is respected.
Yes, and it is even recommended. Apply an acrylic primer followed by a matt or satin paint. Any shade you like. Plaster absorbs paint — two coats are recommended.
