Indirect lighting completely transforms the mood of a room. Cornices with an LED channel are the ideal solution for a truly striking effect.
Why Choose Indirect Lighting?
- Soft, welcoming ambience
- No glare
- Highlights the architecture
- Lower energy consumption with LEDs
- Colours and brightness can be varied
Choosing the Right LED Cornice
Cornices designed for lighting have a channel (recess) that holds the LED strip. The light bounces off the ceiling to create a luminous "halo" effect.
Selection Criteria
- Depth of the channel: at least 3-4 cm for good light diffusion
- Angle of reflection: determines the width of the halo
- Material: polyurethane or high-density polystyrene
Choosing Your LED Strip
Colour
- Warm white (2700-3000K): cosy ambience, ideal for living rooms and bedrooms
- Neutral white (4000K): kitchens, home offices
- RGB: colour changing, party atmosphere
Power
For mood lighting: 4-8W/m. For additional functional lighting: 10-14W/m.
Installation
1. Plan the Circuit
Locate the power supply and plan the cable runs. Allow for a transformer rated for the total length.
2. Fit the Cornices
Install the cornices as usual, leaving a route for the supply cables.
3. Fit the LED Strip
Stick the strip into the channel of the cornice. Point the LEDs towards the ceiling for optimal indirect lighting.
4. Electrical Connection
Connect the strip to the transformer and the switch. Call in an electrician if needed.
Expert Tips
- Use a dimmer to adjust the brightness
- Fit a diffuser if the LEDs are too visible
- Test the lighting before fixing everything permanently
