Four profiles, four uses
- Thermo pine panelling board 4.2 × 9.2 cm, NATUREL grade — wide profile for vertical or horizontal installation, ideal for traditional tongue-and-groove cladding.
- Thermo pine square batten 4.2 × 4.2 cm, NATUREL grade — privacy-screen uprights, open-joint slatting, pergola cladding.
- Thermo pine squared timber 4.2 × 6.8 cm, NATUREL grade — façade rafters, support battens for ventilated installation.
- UTS+ thermo pine cladding 26 × 68 mm, AB grade — premium exposed façades.
Installation: open-joint or tongue-and-groove?
Open-joint cladding — even gaps between the boards, contemporary look, maximum ventilation. Widely used in bioclimatic architecture.
Simulated open-joint — grooves machined into a solid board, giving the open-joint look without the real gap — a compromise between appearance and weathertightness.
Tongue-and-groove — continuous coverage, wind- and rain-tight, traditional Scandinavian cladding look. The one to choose on a highly exposed façade.
Ventilated installation and silver-grey patina
Vertical or horizontal battens depending on the direction of the boards, a breather membrane is mandatory behind, a ventilated air gap of at least 20 mm, A2 stainless steel fixings (façade) or A4 (seafront).
The natural silver-grey patina settles in over 8 to 18 months. To keep the brown tone, apply a saturator every 2 to 4 years. The Gris Patiné and Gris Intemporel finishes bring that appearance from day one (subject to availability).

Horizontal visually widens the façade, for a contemporary or Scandinavian look. Vertical makes the building look taller, for a traditional timber look. Vertical installation encourages more even water run-off and a more uniform patina.
Open-jointed = spaced boards, maximum ventilation, contemporary look (rain can pass through). Tongue-and-groove = interlocking boards, sealed against wind and rain, traditional look.
Not necessarily. Left untreated it turns a natural silver-grey within 8 to 18 months — a look that is sought after in contemporary architecture. With a wood oil (every 2-4 years), the brown tone is retained.
An air gap of at least 20 to 25 mm between the breather membrane and the cladding. It is essential for moisture to escape — without it the timber will rot, even when thermally modified.
